  PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

    Language Conversation
Italian - Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced
Basic
  • Learn Italian in a relaxed and suportive environment.  
  • Enjoy learning about the culture and language.  
  • Build your vocabularyand improve your pronunciation.  
 Intermediate
  • Students will continue to build vocabulary and knowledge of the Italian language.  
  • Speaking and writing willbe emphasized along with grammatical sturcture to help students prepare for Italian Advanced.
Advanced
  • Continue to master the Italian language.  
  • Empahsis is placed on history and culture/art.  
  • The group will research travel to various destinations in Italy and study the area's history and culture.  
  • Students will converse with other people who share a passion for this language.

Spanish -Basic - Intermediate
Basic
  • Help you to communicate when your are travelling
  • Learn phrases which will be helpful to you on ;your vacation
  • Speack and write Spanish
Intermediate
  • Appropriate for those who have some experience in the language and who wish to improve fluency and pronunciation

   French - Beginner - Intermediate
Basic
  • Enjoy ordering in French next time you travel.
  • The sound of the language is practiced through dialogue, vocabulary and basic s tructures
  • This course is for people with little or no knowledge of French
Intermediate
This intermediate level is designed for students who have;
  • some background in French
  • wish to improve pronunciation, fluency and writing skills

Mandarin - Beginner - Intermediate
Basic
  • For students with little or no background knowledge of the Mandarin language
  • The focus is on conversational practice.
  • Learn pronunciation with the aids of the Chinese phonics (Han Yu Pin Yin) and more.

Yoga & Meditation
  • Learn a variety of traditional hatha yoga postures and be guided through various energizing flows, meditations, breath work and relaxation techniques
  • This class is designed to increase your energy, strength, flexibility, confidence, awareness, concentration and inner peace
  • Bring a blanket and/or mat andwear comfortable clothes ( no belts)

Family Yoga ( parent and child 10+)
  • This yoga class is designed for Parents and Children (ages 10 and up). Participants will be introduced to a variety of yoga postures and guided through invigorating flows, breath work and relaxation techniques.
  • The fundamentals of yoga will be introduced and emphasis will be placed on proper alignment, breathing and invigorating flows to relieve stress, develop concentration and awareness while at the same time energizing, strengthening and toning the entire body. 
  • Bring a blanket and/or mat and wear comfortable clothes (no belts).    

Pilates
  • Learn the fundamentals of Pilates.  Pilates is an innovative mind-body exercise created by Joseph Pilates. 
  • Pilates strengthens and tones deep core muscles, builds long and flexible joints and conditions the entire body.
  • Emphasis is on proper breathing, correct alignment, flowing movement and concentration.          
  • Bring a blanket and/or mat and wear comfortable clothes (no belts).  

World Religion
  • Religion What do we hope to achieve in these sessions?  What is the difference between religion and spirituality?  What are the characteristics of religions?
  • Hinduism How did Hinduism develop?  What do Hindus believe about the afterlife?  Why do Hindus practice Yoga?  How do Hindus worship?
  • Daoism & Confucianism Who was the Buddha?  How did he shape his religion?  How does Buddhism deal with the problem of suffering?  Why is meditation so important to Buddhists?
  • Judaism What wisdom can we draw from these religions?  Who was Confucius? Lao Tze?  What does Confucianism have to do with character?
  • Christianity Why do we have so many divisions within Christianity?  What gifts has Christianity given to the world?  What role can Christianity play in the ecological crisis?
  • Islam How did Islam develop?  How do Muslims worship?  How can Islam help make the world more peaceful?
  • Religious Issues Today How does an interfaith perspective help us to approach controversial questions such as the status of First Nations, Inuit and Metis people; ecological issues; and bioethical issues (eg abortion, same-sex orientation, euthanasia and capital punishment)?  How can inter-religious dialogue contribute to peacemaking at the personal, community and global levels?  What insights can we draw from our exploration of world religions?
   
Parenting: Reduce Family Stress
  • This course will provide a step by step approach aimed at reducing family stress. Along with 42 tools, participants will learn how to inspire children to be respectful, responsible and cooperative family memembers.

Auto Mechanics 101
This introductory course will provide;
  • the basic knowledge of automobile operation and maintenance
tips to perfoming basic maintenance and repairs
  • uses a textbook and workbook to walk you through the inner workings of the automobile
This introductory course will teach you:
  • how to handle roadside emergencies such as changing a tire, building a personal emergency kit
  • diagnose common problems such as battery/electrical maintenance, engine oil changes
  • communciate effectively with your auto mechanic
